Long time ago, Java and Bali Island was one. And in the country of Blambangan there was a spiritual man called Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra. He has a son, Manik Angkeran. Manik Angkeran’s habbit is very bad, he like gambling very much. The worse thing is he never won, so he debt a lot of money to other players. His father and mother always told him to stop gambling but he never listen. Manik Angkeran never stop gambling and always lose. Finally his debts increase more and more, that make Manik Angkeran afraid to come back home and live in the jungle. In the next day, debt collector comes to his house. His father, Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra become confused by this lot debt. The debt collector give Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra one more week to pay off his debt. Coupled with his son that not come home yet, worsen his mind.
Long time thinking, then he remember his old friend called Naga Basuki, a powerful dragon who lived in the cave. Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra immediately visiting Naga Basuki and hope he can help him. After arriving at the cave, Naga Basuki then asked him, why he came here. He told him about his problem. Naga Basuki agree to help him in the condition that Manik Angkeran has to stop gambling. The dragon shook his body till some of his scales were off, and when the scales reach the ground they turns into gold.
He agreed and so it was, Manik Angkeran lives and stay near the cave and meditate in order to cleanse his soul. After that, Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra come back home, but before he reach the Blambangan country he was afraid that his son would come and gambling again. To prevent it happen, he make a strait line on the ground and from that line the water comes out until the land between Blambangan and Bali was emerged became a strait and called Bali strait.

From behind the shrub Manik Angkeran see that miracle. Because of his greediness he begging Naga Basuki to help him. Know about his bad habbit, Naga Basuki refuse to help him and it make Manik Angkeran angry. He cut the dragon’s tail, the dragon revenge with burn him to ashes.
When his father Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra heard that, he came for forgiveness and ask Naga Basuki to give back his son. The dragon ask for a reward that was to mend his tail and Dang Hyang Sidi Mantra can get his son back.
